Gregory Herbert's practice spans annimation, film, sound and sculpture, with much of Greg's work incorporating technologies that can then be implemented into Unity, such as Blender. Greg's works although they involve these technologies, such as beginning to implement augmented reality in projects such as the Air Quality Weather Report, they remain in some way connected to reality.

This connection to reality is a signifcant part of Greg's practice, creating a bluring between the digital and the physical. In works such as the Contours of the Earth 2022, that was made in collaboration with the Bluecoat, a digitally craeted video plays whilst audiences are welcomed into the immersive sensory room with stimulating viuals, soothing sounds comfy spaces and relaxing smells (Herbert,2022). In speaking with Greg about the physical connection to space in works such as these the physical space plays just as important of a element as the video works. With the removing the physical aspect of the work the whole dynamic would be changed, the videos not being able to stand alone without it. Greg's films work in contant converstation with the physical parts of the work and how the viewer interacts with the space.

In speaking about the technology that Greg uses within his practice, in specific relation to that of Winnowing Phase. In creating this work he used the 3D scanner app Polycam on his phone, exporting these scans into Blender where he built and animated the video. As well as using Blender to create these works Greg also uses the program Houdini (a 3D annimation software), this program allows for the models that are created in Blender to be simulated an exported back into Blender.

Greg's practice further highlights the signifcance of the phyicality of the space even when exporing and using digital technologies. In developing my own project further I think that focusing on the connection to physical reality will be an important aspect of furture research. Greg has also provided insight into technologies that I will be able to appy to the exhibtions developments.
